ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.
- Under the supervision of the Director of Global Programs, the Global Program Development Specialist identifies and develops new business opportunities for AHF Global Programs.
- Researches, chronicles and monitors funding sources, including but not limited to United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), UNAIDS, the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank and other donor countries.
- Coordinates program development of new initiatives including acquiring funding, scouting and assessing sites, identifying partners and establishing project roles, negotiating with donors, coordinating start-up logistics including legal and NGO status, and writing proposals and grants in collaboration with the AHF grant writing team.
- Conducts regular assessment and resource acquisition trips to foster clear communication between AHF Global working groups and relevant home office departments.
- Is responsible for understanding AHF Global program procedures, and helps and guides country teams to implement and institutionalize operational standards.
- Effectively communicates between country teams and AHF Global working groups to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues. Backstops all global programmatic activities including but not limited to: program initiation, development, reporting, assessment, monitoring, and improvement.
- Communicates with and reports to AHF’s Global Secretariat in Amsterdam, Netherlands on a regular basis. Is a primary liaison between the two offices and supports both in developing country programs.
- Liaises with US government agencies, other international donor governments and agencies, in-country governments and private foundations to promote AHF programs and interests, acquires resources, and develops collaborations for projects.
- Works with other AHF staff to develop and implement short and long term program development and resource acquisition goals, inform policies, and develop strategies.
- Is knowledgeable about organizational history as well as project activities, plans and organizational policies and effectively communicates these policies strategies between AHF Global working groups.
- Provides support to and works with consultants as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to travel domestically up to 15% of the time.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 35% of the time.
- Ability to work independent and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management and individuals in the private, non-profit and government sector.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
- Valid United States passport.
- Valid California driver license.
